The Seagate Barracuda SATA Drive (3TB) is one of our favorites to use with our archiving system. It’s fast and it’s reliable. One part of what makes our storage system seem like such common sense, is its ease of use. Part two is cost effectiveness and Part three is the speed.

Ease of Use

All you have to do is back up your data to hard drives, label and store in our protective anti-static foam containers. It’s really that simple. When you need access to your data, retrieve the drive, insert it into your drive reader and away you go.

What’s the Cost?

If you look at the cost of a complete 18 hard drive system – 18 Seagate Barracuda SATA Drives (3TB) ($130.00 each), and our ProStorage Combo Box which comes with our dual SATA reader and storage ro the 18 drives ($178.90) – the total cost would be $2500.00.Now, let’s take a look at a cloud storage service like Carbonite. Their top end “Business Premier” storage service will cost you $599.00 per year – PER 500 GB! With the ProStorage 18 system, using Seagate Barracuda SATA Drives (3TB) you have a total capacity of 54TB – that is 108 times the capacity of a service like Carbonite. So to have them store that amount of data would cost you a whopping $64,000 PER YEAR! Yes, the ProStorage System is very cost effective!

Speed

Again using a “cloud” system as a reference, it doesn’t matter how fast your internet is, it will never be as fast as a Seagate Barracuda SATA Drive (or 2 on our dual doc) connected to your computer or network.

You get more bang for your buck with 1TB per disc technology. Increasing the capacity per disc means the highest capacity drives like the Seagate Barracuda 3 TB SATA Drive become more affordable, needing fewer discs to meet your capacity needs.

Your drive is up to 45% faster than the last generation thanks to Seagate OptiCache technology. OptiCache technology combines the latest advances in hard drive microprocessors, DRAM, and proprietary caching algorithms resulting in great performance

So Exactly how big is the Seagate Barracuda SATA Drive’s  3 Terabyte capacity? Big enough to store:

• 49,980 hours of Digital Music
• 960,000 Digital Photos (Average file size using cameras highest resolution JPEG mode)
• 3,000 hours of Digital Video
• 750 DVD Quality Movies (Based on standard 2 hour movie)

• Now if you throw in our Dual Dock 2 SATA you can double those numbers – whew, that’s a lot!
